Judge Praises Lindsay Lohan's Progress: Other Current Stars that Made Big Comebacks

Lindsay Lohan has been making excellent progress according to her judge.

Lindsay Lohan earned praise from a judge that recently told her to keep up the good work. The star is set to host "Saturday Night Live" on March 3 as well. Things are looking as positive as they have looked for the actress in a long time. There is still a long way to go for Lohan to make a comeback. However, she doesn't have to look far for inspiration. Hollywood loves comeback stories and there are plenty to choose from. Here are some other current stars that made huge comebacks.

    Robert Downey, Jr.

Downey is arguably the biggest example of a Hollywood comeback ever. The actor dealt with numerous drug issues throughout his early career. The actor had more arrests and failed drug rehab stints than most people would like to count. Downey was also diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. Just when it seemed like his career was over, he finally cleaned up in the early 2000s. He fought his way back by appearing in several films before finally making it huge in 2008. He appeared in massive hits "Iron Man" and "Tropic Thunder," a film that earned him an Oscar nomination. Things have been peach for the actor ever since.

    Mickey Rourke

Rourke had a couple of big hits in the 1980s but left the industry to pursue a career in boxing. He returned to acting in the 1990s but the comeback took a long time. It wasn't until the 2005 comic book film "Sin City" that Rourke's name reached the headlines. After that he was back. He earned an Oscar nomination for "The Wrestler" and starred as the villain in "Iron Man 2."

    Rob Lowe

He was part of the brat pack in the 1980s and had a string of successful movies. But it all went away after a sex tape scandal destroyed his public image. He got another big break in 1995 when he landed a spot on "The West Wing." Since that time he has restored himself as a charming actor and continued to land steady work on television.

    John Travolta

Travolta build his career with hits like "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever." But a string of failures in the 1980s and early 1990s made him anything but box office gold. That all changed when Quentin Tarantino gave him a big role in "Pulp Fiction." Tarantino has given many actors a second chance and Travolta was the biggest example of that. He earned an Oscar nomination for his role and has appeared in big movies ever since.
