Actor Johnny Depp has found another business venture. The "Dark Shadows" star is planning to release a series of books as part of his new partnership with HarperCollins. There are no plans for Johnny to write any of the books, but he figures to be heavily involved in the editing and publishing process. According to the star, the goal will be to release books that might normally get overlooked by major publishing companies. "I pledge, on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, that we will do our best to deliver publications worthy of peoples' time, of peoples' concern," said the actor in a statement. "Publications that might ordinarily never have breached the parapet. For this dream realized, we would like to salute HarperCollins for their faith in us and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship together." This is just the latest example of Johnny expanding his career beyond acting. Here are a few of the other things that the star been involved with over the years.
He started a production company
As referenced in his statement, Johnny owns a production company called Infinitum Nihil. He launched the company in 2004, and he currently runs it with his sister. Johnny has produced several of his films through the company, and has big plans for the future. A partnership with Disney was announced in 2011, and the actor will produce at least two movies as part of the deal. The new publishing venture will share the same name as the actor's company.
He's a talented musician
Johnny is an avid guitar player, and his work can be heard in movies like "Chocolat" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." The actor has also performed with a variety of bands during concerts, and also lent his services during the recording of several songs and music videos. Johnny even once had his own band called P, which performed during the early 1990s. Most recently, he appeared in a Paul McCartney music video along with actress Natalie Portman
He's dabbled in wine and clubs
While living in France, Johnny owned a vineyard estate with former companion Vanessa Paradis. While there, the actor happily made his own wine. Though he hasn't sold it publicly, he has expressed a strong interest in doing so. "I have a secret desire to make wine," said the actor in 2010. "But I'll keep it for myself before daring to see it commercially." In addition to his winemaking habit, the actor has also owned various clubs. He once held ownership in the Hollywood club The Viper Room¸ which is noted for being the location of actor River Phoenix's death in 1993. He also once co-owned Man Ray, a former spot located in Paris.
