LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Country singer Jewel has questioned the decision by "Dancing With the Stars" to once again allow an injured competitor to be judged by their rehearsal dance.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Melissa Rycroft suffered and injury to her ribs and was unable to compete on Monday's "DWTS." Instead, like they did with Steve-O earlier in the season, the judges marked her on a pre-show rehearsal dance with partner Tony Dovolani, something Jewel , who herself pulled out of the current "Dancing" season before it started due to injury, questioned.

"Being a rodeo and bull riding fan it's hard for me to get used to someone who is injured still getting a score," Jewel wrote on her husband, Ty Murray's MySpace page. "I think the rule about 'judging a rehearsal if the person is too injured to perform' was weird both times they have used it."

Jewel suggested she would have preferred to see the game played by rodeo rules (her rodeo champ Ty Murray is still competing this season on "DWTS").

"As bad as I felt for Melissa, who I hope feels better and comes back, I'm used to our cowboy athletes that live by the rule: 'ride hurt or don't get a score,'" Jewel blogged. "It may seem harsh, but it seems like the only way to keep things honest.

"If you're too hurt to compete then you can't compete," she continued before adding, "But if I were to be on the show I might change my mind. Hahah!"

Despite receiving the lowest score on Monday night, Melissa had enough votes from the fans to put her through to the next week, and it was Chuck Wicks who was instead sent home.

In her post, Jewel suggested rodeo rules help keep integrity in any competition.

"I like that the bull riders and cowboys have to win to get paid," she said. "They get paid based on their performance and not on their reputation. That, to me, seems like the way it should be in the real world. All of us get fired if we don't do any good at our jobs."

you wait and see, suddenly she won't be so injured tonight the crocodile tears when chuck was kicked off didnt impress me either, showing her going to the hospital was a nice touch for more sympathy she should have been the one to leave since Chuck competed and she did not, why did she get unearned points for that group dance, unfair i say

DWTS is not a sport its a friendly competion for a shiney ball. Hey when Jewell's next song doesn't reach #1 maybe we canvote her out of singing. Maybe she'll realize she sucks and not sing anymore. Thats the rodeo way. Jewell is just jealous. She was going to use her money from DWTS to have her teeth fixed.

Jewel is right - dance or leave Melissa. Dance or leave anyone else that gets injured as well. If you cannot dance, you cannot compete. This isn't a Melissa thing it is anyone that is injured such just let someone else do the hard stuff. GO JEWEL!

Lighten up, Jewel. This is an entertainment show...it has never been 100% fair.

To say that Melissa has gotten a "sympathy vote" is absurd. She REALLY IS one of the best dancers on the show, and that has been reflected in the voting. That's all. The only "sympathy" vote I know of was ABC putting her on the show to begin with. They owed her that after the way they screwed her over, but I'm sure they just did it for rating

I also think it's weird--where else can you not participate in the big game/event/show and still be allowed to score/place/win? I would like to pre-record my 100 meter dash for the 2012 Olympics please. Just send my gold medal to my house.

She presents an interesting point. Nothing to hate on her over, though.

I agree with Jewel. Bottom line is this, Melissa has been getting that sympathy vote since she was on the bachlor which for those who are naive and gullible that show is scripted with that and the injury another sympathy vote and the judges being so bias in their favor their sure to be in the top two standing.

"If they dont do any good at their jobs"....Miss Jewel needs to sharpen her vocabulary skills before she "shoots off" another interview! Rodeo bull riding is one sport, dancing is a completely seperate competition....please be respectful of the rules for each.
