The cause of 16-year-old Jett Travolta's death could be determined later today, as two clinical and forensic pathologists are set to perform an autopsy in the Bahamas.

Arrangements are also currently being made for Jett's body to be transported to Ocala, Fla., near the family's home in the Jumbolair fly-in community.

Check out never-seen pictures the actor has released of his late son, Jett.

The 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston died Friday at the family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. He hit his head on a bathtub after suffering a seizure. (The boy had a history of having seizures.)

"John is distraught. He is trying to understand and reconcile this," Travolta's lawyer and confidant, Michael McDermott, and Michael Ossi, the family's attorney, told Usmagazine.com Saturday in a joint telephone interview.

Travolta and Preston said they were "heartbroken" in a statement on her Web site Sunday.

"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered," they said.

My DEEPEST condolencences to the Travolta family. Have been there too many times to let go. 2 for myself, 2 for my sister, 2 for my brother so, been there. Although it never goes away, we learn to put ourselves aside & trust GOD. John & Kelly WILL heal & look forward to being with their beloved son again. With GOD in command we learn.

That is really sad, but they never make a big deal about it when a regular person dies. So yeah, it's a big deal for the parents of him, but it's not anyone else's business about it and I don't understand why they are telling everyone in the world about it. That's supposed to be a sensitive subject and that's how it should stay.

  • It saddened me to hear of the loss for the Travolta/Preston families...I extend my condolences to them as they go though this very trying time. Hopefully the media can extend some respect to the family and give them time and space to grieve over their loss. My families prayers are with John and Kelly at this time.
