LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Jessica Simpson has been traveling around the world for her upcoming reality show, VH1's "The Price of Beauty." But in addition to learning about how different cultures view beauty, she's also been finding out in detail how others around the world really live.
"In Uganda, we had spiders the size [of], like double my hand," Jessica told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush at an Operation Smile benefit on Friday of the things she saw on her trip. "I couldn't sleep comfortably."

Jessica revealed she's also had to take Malaria pills in order to ward off the disease while in Africa.
"I just got off them," she said. "We've all been trying to get off our Malaria pills and we feel crazy!"

Jessica said the pills, which help protect against the parasitic disease, have been making her feel out of place.
"They just make you have crazy dreams," she said. "Then, when you get off them, it's like, 'Wait, aren't I supposed to be crazy right now?'"
This Sunday, Jessica is heading for her next stop on her "The Price of Beauty" filming schedule - Morocco -- but rather than resting comfortably as she prepares for the trip, Jessica attended an Operation Smile benefit on Friday. At the event, hosted by Billy, Jessica and her family - father Joe, sister Ashlee and mother Tina -- were honored by Operation Smile, which helps children around the world, many of which suffer from deformities such as cleft palettes.

"Honestly, it's just so important to be able to give back and see a result and know that somebody feels confident about themselves and they can actually smile and just feel beautiful," Jessica said of her family's help with the group. "That's honestly what this whole organization is about, they deserve to smile and the fact that we can financially provide that, that's why I'm here."
