Jessica Simpson has no regrets when it comes to her marriage to ex-husband, Nick Lachey .

Although she admits she hasn't spoken to him "in years," the singer told the June issue of Vanity Fair that their MTV reality show, Newlyweds, helped her realize the importance of good relationships.

"It made me understand what marriage is, what love is, what commitment is," she said. "In all honesty, I believe it did not affect our marriage. Because we enjoyed watching those episodes, and that will always be a time I cherish."

Still, getting married was always the end goal for Simpson, who admitted that Texas girls are hardwired for marriage.

"It was what we all wanted," she said. "Go to college, get married, and have babies. It was my way of thinking. At 16, every boyfriend I had I was going to marry."

Although she was unlucky in love after their three-year union came to an end -- she was since linked with John Mayer , Dane Cook and Johnny Knoxville -- the singer has found happiness with her new her new beau, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo .

Unfortunately, the pairing isn't beloved in Simpson's home state.

To many local football fans, she's known as the "Jessica Jinx." Not only do bookmakers in Vegas note her presence at games when figuring out their odds, but former president George W. Bush -- a noted Cowboys fan -- blamed Simpson for losses.

Although she publicly endorsed his presidency during a polarizing time in American politics, during a post-Super Bowl visit the Giants made to the White House last April, Bush suggested the Republican Party find a way to get her to the Democratic convention. (President Barack Obama might want to watch out, as Simpson has changed her political views, adding that she is "very supportive of our president, and I believe that hes going to do remarkable things.)

"We don't let it affect our relationship," she said. "If we did, we wouldn't be together, because it happened at the very beginning."

She added: "Dating the Cowboys quarterback comes with hype, the fans, the bloggers, but I've never dated a guy that was more simple. I'm always there for him after a game, and he knows he has me to come home to."

it's sad how people could be so hung up on a sport that you actually have to find someone to blame when they aren't doing well. i think they make a cute couple.

As a very loyal Redskins fan, I think Jess should spend more time at Cowboys games, being a supportive girlfriend. What a nice thing to do. ;-)

I have been a die hard, blindly loyal Dallas Cowboy fan since I was a little girl, thru everything including the firing of my beloved coach (Tom Landry) and the worst season on record (1-15). And all you Jessica fans can deny it all you want, but whenever she is at the game, Tony just does not play at his best. She is definitely a JINX and needs to stay away from ALL Dallas Cowboy games!!!!!!!!
