  Believe it or not, Goddess (you probably haven't had kids), some babies stay MUCH later in utero than is safe. Once you get beyond 2 wks past your due date, the fetus starts running out of space and amniotic fluid, and the danger to the mother increases--the size alone would make vaginal delivery impossible, not to mention the fact that the baby may not have dropped or may be breech.
