In a move that comes as no surprise, FX has picked up "American Horror Story" for another season. The third season of the horror anthology will shoot next summer, and debut on TV in the fall. There are no details in terms of story, but the network did confirm that Jessica Lange will return next season. Unlike most shows, "American Horror Story" doesn't involve a traditional casting model. The second season features a completely new crop of characters, though several actors from the first season do appear in different roles. Since the third season will have a completely new story, Jessica will appear as yet another new character. It's safe to assume that several other actors will also return in different roles next season. Here are three "American Horror Story" actors that would be great choices to join Jessica in the show's third season.
James Cromwell
This accomplished character actor didn't appear in the show's first season, but he has been a welcome addition in the current one. As the sadistic physician Dr. Arden, James has ranked right up there with Jessica as the season's best character. With his commanding presence and brilliant delivery, James is a pleasure whenever he is on the screen. Without knowing the story for the third season, it's hard to guess what type of character he could play. However, his talents make him a no-brainer to bring back next season.
Evan Peters
In each of the first two seasons of "American Horror Story," Evan has portrayed a young man capable of horrific crimes. However, he has managed to make viewers root for him despite his murderous ways. That's proof that he has tremendous range as an actor. Since Evan has been a prominent character in each season, it's safe to assume that he will be back for the third. He brings a certain amount of charm to the show, and that would be wise to keep in the third season. Who knows, perhaps he will get the chance to play a character that isn't a mass murderer.
Chloe Sevigny
This talented actress has never been shy about taking on unflattering roles, and her current character Shelly certainly fits that bill. Given the gruesome fate of the nymphomaniac she plays, Chloe has had to put a lot of work into a character that has had minimal appearances so far. It would be nice to see her rewarded with a bigger role in the third season. With her turn in "Big Love," she's already proven that she can play a substantial role on a series. A meatier role for her can only be a good thing for "American Horror Story" going forward.
