Jennifer Hudson on Baby David: "He Really Thinks He Can Talk!"

Jennifer Hudson doesn't mind burning the midnight oil with son David (born August 10). In fact, it's her favorite Mommy-baby time!

"I like to get up with him in the middle of the night!" she insisted to Usmagazine.com at the Whitney Museum of American Arts Gala in New York Monday.

"That's the best time, just waiting," says the singer-actress, 27. "Especially if his father [fiance David Otunga] has had him earlier in the evening. I miss him, so I'm like, 'When is he going to wake up? I'm ready to get some!'"

Which stars are due next?

Little David has been "working on his smile and turning over," says Hudson, who reads and sings to him daily. But she adds that her son would like to reach another milestone more quickly. "He really thinks he can talk! He really tries. No words come out, of course. He's like 'Ahhh!' He says hi!"

The Grammy and Oscar winner has reached some major milestones of her own: a seriously svelte figure post-pregnancy. "I walk 45 minutes to an hour every day and I'm eating right. I've cut sugar out of my life."

How does her baby fit into her workouts? "I might lift him up a couple of times for my weights!" she says.

    Breast feeding is great, but everyone can not do it. My doctors told me to stop my daughter was eating more than I could produce. She could drink a whole 4 oz before we left the hospital. We were there for 6 days. I didn't get any sleep...

    even if she isn't breast feeding, how do you know it's by her choice. she could have problems latching him on or she could be pumping so that it's available when she's not. duh!
