Jennifer Hudson To Honor Whitney Houston At Grammys

The Grammys will honor the memory of Whitney Houston on Sunday night, and it appears Jennifer Hudson will lead the charge.

However, viewers won't see the show turn into a "full-blown tribute," according to the show's executive producer.

"We had a long-term association with Whitney. Whitney was a multi-Grammy winner. She appeared on the show a number of times... obviously we are very saddened. We don't want to rush to anything that wouldn't be respectful," Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich told CNN on Sunday night of the music awards show's plan to honor Whitney, who died on Saturday at age 48.

"Our plan at this point, I've asked Jennifer Hudson to come. We're really, at this point, talking about what she's going to do, but it will be something respectful," Ehrlich said of Jennifer's performance. "It's not going to be a full-blown tribute, to me that feels like it's too early, it's too fresh at this moment, so we're working on something that will be really respectful and appropriate to Whitney's memory."

With Grammy plans in the works for months, it's not easy to make last-minute changes to the itinerary of the show - however, the producers have already reviewed the rundown to determine where to put the tribute to Whitney. As it turns out, the shift will also have an impact on the overall feel of the program.

"We've already actually gone through the script and made a few changes just to make sure the tone is right," Ehrlich added. "There are some shifts we wanted to make script-wise that probably make it a little more appropriate to what's happened."

Yet Ehrlich doused any concerns that music's biggest night would be anything but celebratory.

"It's still going to be a great music show. Knowing Whitney as I did, she very much would've wanted us... she was a great artist and a great performer and knew the importance of thrilling an audience, and that's what we still plan to do tomorrow."

Grew up listening to her music! Whether she was on drugs is not the point, she was a legend! There is no one else that can compare to Whitney, an irreplaceable person, the past few years haven't been great, at least she tried to pick herself up after she had fallen, how many people can do that? like her song "If I fail, if I succeed, at least I lived as I believed" and she did! Legend

No, she didn't pick herself up. And what did she believe? Being a junkie is the way to go?

Thats o.k. Kitty, I was beaten up by a man along time ago now and although I left him (with nowhere to go and a child) I can understand what she felt like, By the way Whitney was a great voice and a great person and very pretty.

I first danced with my now wife to "I will always love you" at the school disco in 91. We are now married and so blissfully happy. We will always have Whitney to thank for that!

Jennifer Hudson have always spoke of Whitney Houston as her idol from day one. It will be amazing to see her do an honor at the grammy's tonight. Their voices are so much alike in so many different ways. Whitney Houston set the tone in the industry for female singers.

Jennifer Holliday called Whitney Houston and Jennifer Hudson church girls, REALLY! church girls! They are both christian women. Thank You Jesus! Whitney is in a better place, free from suffering and pain. How do you feel today Bobby Brown. You need to turn to GOD for forgiveness for the path you led her down. Whitney you will be missed. God rest!

Jennifer Hudson said in an interview that *Whitney Houston* was her idol, so tomorrow at the Grammy's, this will be an EXTROARDINARY evening. I believe that Jennifer met her after Jennifer's mum DIED. So, this will be a very HEART WRENCHING/TOUCHING performance by Jenn Hudson. TEARS and SONGS that we all can SHARE together.I feel so SORRY for her daughter.

So sad that another celebrity died so soon, so young because of drugs again - first MJ now Whitney Houston - this just can't keep happening. I remember Whitney for all her classic hits, "Didn't We Almost Have It All", "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" - and many many more!!!
