The film marks the feature directorial debut for Michael Sucsy, who recently helmed the Emmy-nominated "Grey Gardens" for HBO.
"Goree Girls" is based on a 2003 article in Texas Monthly magazine which chronicled the sage of eight women who formed one of the first all-female country acts in the U.S., became huge radio hits and were eventually pardoned.
