Unlike the rest of the world, Javier Bardem isn't so drawn to his on-screen personas. In an interview with GQ magazine, on newsstands Sept. 25, the Oscar winner admits that he doesn't like to watch himself in movies.
"The fact that I like to make characters doesn't mean that I like to watch my characters being made, my performance," he tells the magazine. "I can't even watch that f**king nose, that f**king voice, those ridiculous eyes. I can’t handle that. But when I’m doing it, I don’t see my nose or hear my voice; it’s like there’s something stronger, bigger than that. And I need to express it."
He's not the only one who feels this way. Johnny Depp has also confessed that he too does not watch his own films.
Regardless, Bardem has starred in a series of notable films including his Oscar-winning role in No Country for Old Men and Woody Allen's film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, where he co-starred alongside his wife Penelope Cruz. "I’m happily married," Bardem, 43, boasts. "I breathe and stay in peace. I truly thank whoever's up there for giving me the opportunity to be loved."
The actor will next appear in the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall, in theaters Nov. 9.
