Jamie Lynn Spears' Hometown Abuzz With Baby News

By Access HollywoodJune 20, 2008, 12:02 pm PDT

KENTWOOD, Louisiana -- Family and friends of new parents Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge were cautiously optimistic when news broke that the 17-year-old had given birth to her daughter Maddie Briann.

"She's awfully young to be a momma," distant cousin Margie Busby told People. "But that's what they make [grandmothers] for. They have to help. That's the way it is with our circle of friends."

Jennifer Pike, a clerk at the corner store that the Spears clan frequents, believes the road ahead for Jamie won't be the smoothest, but is hopeful for the new mother.

"There will probably be some rough times and some bumpy times, but I wish the best for her. I wish her all the luck in the world," Pike told the magazine.

Spears family member, Charlie Spears, believes the easy part is over for Jamie Lynn and Casey.

"It's easy to have them, but hard to raise them," he said. "I hope she's healthy, and I hope they raise a good baby."

I'm 18 I just had a baby he is 3 ms. . Jamie Lynn will be a great mother! If i can do it all by myself then she can do it! There is nothing wrong with teen parents, as long as they know what they are getting into. And for the people who think teen moms beat thier babies and think teens mess up thier kids! Come look at my son he is the happest baby you will ever find, all he does is smile!

..the only person with the right to decide that is THEM tho, not arrogant %@!*#es like you with nothing better to do than wrongly judge others. I'm done now :) Congrats Jamie Lynn, you'll make a WONDERFUL mother as long as you keep putting your baby first!! Young moms are the best, we actually have the time and energy to keep up with our children every day and do more things they w

so don't sit there putting all young mothers into the same category of "BAD PARENTS" because some of us are unmarried or dont have a lot of money because none of that matters when it comes to parenting. Its all about the amount of love and time you give your child, and women (and men!) of all ages are capable of doing that, its just up to them if they're ready for

I'm 20, my fiance is 22, and our son is 15-mos. I haven't worked since I was 4 mos pregnant, we live in a beautiful house with a view of lake Superior, we have so much stuff our friends call our house 'circuit city' and it looks like toys-r-us threw up in my son's playroom and bedroom. My son met every single major milestone extrememly early (probably ear

Being married and being older doesn't automatically mean maturity and the ability to be a good parent; and the job you hold doesn't automatically give you the right to judge anyone of any age who makes the decision to become a parent either unexpectedly or not. Its a good thing people with your ignorant ideas are a dying breed...once your all extinct the world will be just a littl

and guess what mamasays, I TOO was raised in a happy, intact home with both of my parents who didn't have me until they were 33 & 38 hence MY strong foundation and good head; and I went on to get pregnant at 18 a few days after my high school graduation with my fiance whom I am STILL with and we've raised an extremely smart and well-behaved little boy who is now 15 months.

MAMASAYS who are you to judge anyone with your obvious arrogance? You think because you work with messed up kids, some of who may have come from young mothers, you have the right to judge all teen/young moms? Sit and spin on your harsh, ignorant, unwanted comments because age does NOT define how good of a mother someone is. Its the person, not the age, that makes a good mother.
