Toronto police Staff Sgt. Devin Kealey told the Canadian Press that officers were called to a downtown hotel with a report of a man with a medical condition shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.

Kealey confirmed the man was Mandel, and said he was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. Family members went with him to St. Michael's Hospital, Kealey told The Associated Press.

On Tuesday, his rep told Us: "Howie has been released from the hospital and will be back at work tomorrow. He appreciates everyones concern."

My mother was 77 when she was found to have an irregular heartbeat. Shortly after, she had a pacemaker placed next to her heart to help keep the rhythms regular. She is a healthy 83 year old today. Apparently, this is now a fairly common surgical procedure that is done and has good results. Thank goodness.
