Howie Mandel -- who was
treated Monday for an irregular heartbeat -- says his recent health scare was "terrifying."
"They put you totally out, and they take those defibrillators, and they yell 'Clear!'" Mandel, 53, said in an interview for
Access Hollywood and
The Billy Bush Show on Thursday. "They shock you, and your heart goes back to a normal rhythm.
"[The doctors] said my heart is strong, and I did not have an attack," he said.
Still, the experience left him shaken.
"I was terrified because I try to stay healthy, I work out, I eat well," he said. "To be in a public lobby of a hotel and start to feel dizzy and then have no memory after that -- and to wake up in an ambulance -- is terrifying."
Mandel -- who is in Toronto shooting his new show
Howie Do It! -- says he'll continue to take medication and will see a doctor for a check-up Friday.
