Looking for a sexy guy to save you from the sweltering sun outside? Never fear -- Hollywood is here with a host of hunks hoping to save the world in action-packed summer movies. From superheroes to sci-fi guys trying to survive on futuristic versions of Earth, here's a look at the hottest heroes that will help you beat the heat at movie theaters this summer:
Robert Downey Jr. in "Iron Man 3" - May 3
Forget most beautiful woman alive Gwyneth Paltrow -- women don't want to see Pepper Potts in the latest installment of this superhero franchise. They're ready to watch RDJ return as Tony Stark, the self-centered King of Snark. He complains about not being able to sleep in a trailer for the film, but luckily for the vain hero, he can always hide his mug behind his iron mask. Unfortunately, he'll spend plenty of time wearing it as he faces off against his new nemesis Mandarin.
Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in "Star Trek Into Darkness" - May 17
There are some very hot and steamy scenes in one of the biggest sci-fi movies of 2013 -- as a clip from the film shows, part of it does take place inside an active volcano. "Star Trek Into Darkness" definitely looks exciting, but here's something else that will really excite certain viewers -- Chris Pine in a skintight Starfleet uniform that would surely make William Shatner blush.
This movie might seem questionable because of the M. Night Shyamalan connection, but at least Will seems very at home when it comes to sci-fi. "After Earth" is about a father and son that return to Earth 1,000 years since humans abandoned it. In that short time period, some killer creatures have evolved that they have to contend with. Jaden Smith plays Will's adventurous offspring in the movie, so it looks like dear old dad is passing the sci-fi star torch on to his son. If nothing else, it's sweet that they're starring together again.
Henry Cavill in "Man of Steel" - June 14
Nope, that "S" on Henry Cavill's chest doesn't stand for "Sexy," but it doesn't stand for "Superman," either. An intriguing trailer features Cavill explaining that the "S" shape is actually a symbol of hope on the superhero's home planet. We're kinda digging the scruffier, shirtless version of Clark Kent featured in the trailer -- the nerdy glasses and slicked-back hair just don't do it for most women.
Brad Pitt in "World War Z" - June 21
How sweet is it that Papa Pitt decided to a zombie movie just because of his sons? Fighting living dead bodies might seem like an odd way to bond with his kids, especially since footage from "World War Z" has been described as "terrifying and intense." However, the film is centered on a family who face a frightening zombie pandemic together, and Brad definitely makes one adorable dad in the trailers.
Channing Tatum in "White House Down" - June 27
Channing is going from playing a male stripper in "Magic Mike" to protecting the president in this thriller about a man's plan to save the POTUS and the rest of the U.S. from a terrorist attack. The Commander in Chief is also pretty cute -- he's played by Jamie Foxx.
Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp in "The Lone Ranger" - July 3
Hammer looks really handsome as the masked man with a white horse from the old TV Western, and a shirtless Johnny also can't hide his hotness under Tonto's face paint. It could go a little cornball, but we think this bromance deserves a chance.
Ryan Reynolds in "R.I.P.D" - July 19
"R.I.P.D." looks shocking like "M.I.B.," but while the Men in Black fought aliens, the deceased Rest in Peace Department partners (Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges) work to protect the world from the undead -- the undead just happen to look a lot like aliens. The whole movie might feel like a "Men in Black" rip-off, but Reynolds and Bridges are just too darn likable to ignore.
Hugh Jackman in "The Wolverine" - July 26
Hugh Jackman got all jacked up to play everyone's favorite gruff and tough member of the X-Men, and of course the scruffy superhero doffs his top and bares his blades in the movie's trailer. There's also plenty of eye candy for the guys here since Wolverine has four fine female companions to contend with, including a sexy and sinister villainess named Viper. And he's not just dealing with girl trouble -- he's lost his invincibility and seems to be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis.
Matt Damon in "Elysium" - August 9
Matt Damon also got all buffed up for one of the biggest sci-fi movies of the summer. Neill Blomkamp, the director of "District 9," brings a futuristic world to life where the rich live on the exquisite Elysium space habitat while the poor suffer on Earth, which has become little more than a landfill after years of pollution. But Matt plays a man with a plan to make the worlds collide, whether those living a life of luxury on Elysium like it or not.
So which of these hot heroes are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
