Olympian Hope Solo must like bad boys! Unfortunately her attraction to her current fiance Jerramy Stevens may be too much for her to handle.
The goalkeeper of the United States soccer team that won gold at the 2012 London Olympics allegedly had a late night altercation with the former Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end that landed him in the big house and reportedly left her bleeding.
According to reports, the fight came on the eve for a planned Tuesday wedding for the couple who had applied for a marriage license late last week after dating for two months. During a party at a private residence, the couple allegedly started arguing about whether they would live in Washington state or Florida following the nuptials. Police were called to break up a separate altercation between Solo's brother and several other uninvited party goers when they found the Olympian with blood and a fresh cut on her elbow. They later found Stevens sleeping on the floor of a bedroom in the home. Solo reportedly refused to give the police a written statement on the night's events and was uncooperative with the police.
Stevens was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. During his court appearance on Tuesday, the former NFL player was released after the judge ruled there was not sufficient evidence to hold him in custody. The case is still under investigation. Solo did stand by her man in the courtroom during his appearance and her attorney told reporters that she had not been assaulted.
With this latest arrest, Stevens has added to a lengthy legal record that dates back to high school when he was accused of beating a schoolmate with a baseball bat. During his college years, he ran his vehicle into a nursing home for which he plead guilty and was accused of sexual assault of a freshman at the University of Washington for which he was never charged. Things settled down a bit after he joined the NFL until a 2007 drunken driving arrest led the Seattle Seahawks to send him packing. He went on to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until a 2010 arrest for marijuana possession which caused him to get sacked again.
Unfortunately if the allegations are true, Hope is hardly the first star to be at the center of abuse allegations. Here are some of the stars who have faced alleged abuse:
Evelyn Lozada: The feisty star of "Basketball Wives" thought she had met her love match with NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson. The couple barely had time to enjoy their newlywed joy following their July 4, 2012, wedding when allegations surfaced that the groom had head butted his bride during a fight. Their wedding bliss was short-lived when their divorce was finalized on September 19, 2012.
Rihanna: She and Chris Brown seemed like the perfect couple of R&B right up to the time that he reportedly bit, punched and choked her after a pre-Grammy awards party in 2009. A few months later, he pleaded guilty to the charges and avoided some time in the slammer by making a last minute deal with the prosecutor. Since then the former lovers have made nice by reuniting to record a track for her upcoming record, "Unapologetic" and even shared a kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
Tina Turner: The iconic singer started her career trapped in a violent marriage to Ike Turner which was chronicled in the film, "What's Love Got To Do With It". The film, which was based on her autobiography, showed her former husband as a violent man bent on breaking her spirit through a series of severe beatings. Tina ultimately overcame the abuse by walking away from the marriage after sixteen years and into a hugely successful solo singing career.
