Homeland was named Best Drama Series at the Critics' Choice Television Awards Monday night.

The Showtime series took home the award for the Best TV Drama at the Golden Globes in January, positioning it as a strong contender for the Emmys in September. Homeland star Claire Danes was also honored with the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

NBC's struggling cult hit Community, which led the field with six nominations, won Best Comedy Series.

Breaking Bad co-stars Bryan Cranston and Giancarlo Esposito took the lead and supporting drama actor awards, while Mad Men's Christina Hendricks repeated in the supporting drama actress race.

Sherlock, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and The Voice were among the other series recognized at the ceremony.

The Following, The Mindy Project, Nashville, The Newsroom and Political Animals were honored as the most exciting new series.
