Holly Robinson Peete Defends Gisele Bundchen: 'It's A Hard Job To Be The Quarterback's Wife'

Holly Robinson Peete knows a thing or two about what it's like to be the wife of an NFL quarterback, having been married to Rodney Peete for nearly two decades. And on Thursday, Holly said she had sympathy for Tom Brady's lady, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who slammed her husband's teammates after their disappointing loss to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

"Here's the deal, it's a hard job to be the quarterback's wife," Holly said as she co-hosted Access Hollywood Live on Thursday alongside Kit Hoover.

"I felt every hit [my husband took from pundits], when there was no social media, so walking out and saying things - the closest I got to making a sort of blunder like that was I called into a radio station in Philadelphia called WIP, and it's just the meanest sports radio and I disguised my voice and pretended I was Rodney's cousin to get a call in and defend him," Holly said, revealing her own outburst from the past. "And they totally knew it was me. That would have been viral and it would have been a whole other thing.

Holly said her own experience on the radio station phone-in ended up resulting in a big lesson.

"My point is that, you have to, as the quarterback's wife, everything that you say reflects on him in that locker room," Holly told Kit. "It would have been fine for her to say, 'Oh, my husband, I wish he'd played better,' but as soon as you start talking about the other players and the other positions, it can be really dicey.

"At least she didn't talk about the offensive linemen, because had they taken a play off, that wouldn't have been good," Holly added.

Still, on reflection, Holly said Gisele probably should have stayed quiet.

"She shouldn't have said anything at all. She should have said, 'Boy I wish we would have won.' But listen, I've also been to a Super Bowl and lost. It's a really ugly feeling," Holly noted.

"It's a very, very tough thing and I'm sure she was very emotional. But this is the social media age," she added.
