Hillary Clinton praised Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, during her
unity speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday
night.
"Anyone who saw
Michelle's speech last night knows she will be
a great First Lady for America," said Clinton, 60, who dubbed
Michelle her "sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits."
Look back on Hillary Clinton's worst outfits
ever.
(That wasn't the night's only female bonding moment: While
introducing her her mother,
Chelsea Clinton called her "my
hero.")
Clinton seemed to put aside any hurt feelings she had toward
Obama.
"We are on the same team, and none of us can afford to sit on the
sidelines," she told the 18,000-member audience (including a
smiling Sen. Joe Biden and his wife Jill) at the Pepsi Center.
"Barack Obama must be our next president."
Her biggest crowd-pleasing moment came when she likened Republican
presidential hopeful John McCain to President Bush.
"It's fitting that George Bush and John McCain will be appearing
together in the Twin Cities [for the Republican National
Convention] because it's awfully hard to tell them apart," she
sniped.
Barack, who watched Clinton's speech while campaigning in Billings,
Montana, called her afterwards to thank her.
"I thought she was outstanding," he told reporters. "That was a
strong speech. She made the case for why we're going to be unified
in November and why we're going to win this election."
