High School Musical 3: Senior Year ruled the box office this
weekend.
The Disney flick earned $42 million according to studio
estimates.

It also set a record for the biggest debut for a musical, beating
Mamma Mia!'s $27.8 million opening earlier this summer.
The musical - which stars
Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley
Tisdale - also won the top opening of all time for a live-action
G-rated movie, beating the $31.1 million that
Hannah Montana and
Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert earned earlier this
year.

Horror movie
Saw V opened in second place, with $30.5
million.
Coming in third was
Mark Wahlberg's
Max Payne, with $7.6
million.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua and
Pride and Glory rounded
out the top five, with $6.9 million and $6.3 million in earnings
respectively.
