Heather Locklear's driving under the influence case has been dismissed, TMZ.com reports.

The actress' lawyer entered her no contest plea for a misdemeanor reckless driving charge Friday morning in a Santa Barbara, California, court, the Web site reports. A judge placed Locklear -- who was not present -- on three years probation, and ordered her to pay a $700 fine and attend a 12-hour drug education class.

Locklear was arrested in September for allegedly driving under the influence of prescription medicine. The district attorney said her blood tests showed no trace of alcohol.

Meanwhile, E! says she's been approached to reprise her role in the upcoming Melrose Place spinoff.

"The CW is courting Heather Locklear," a source tells the network. "I don't think anyone else from the original has been approached yet."

A rep for Locklear denies the report.

Sounds to me like another hollywood star gets off. If it was RX drugs that did this to her. Why does she have to take a drug education class and why was she put on probation. I smell a rat. At her age she should know better but then some people just never grow up.

TMZ, run by an attorney Harvey Levin, should know that if Locklear has been placed on probation, ordered to pay a fine and attend a class, then her case has NOT been "dismissed".

This is all very vague because they said she was under the influence of a "prescription medicine" but they didn't say what the medicine was or how it influences drivers . Did the medicine affect her judgement, reflexes, and coordianation, i.e. things that could lead to an accident ? Or did it affect her sense of taste and smell and other things irrelevant to driving?

Any drug, even if it is a Rx, that causes you to be impaired while operating ANY kind of vehicle deems Driving Under the Influnce. She still should have had someone else drive her. You never know what any kind of meds may do to you even if you have taken them with out any kind of problem before. Caution is always the better idea

I don't see where taking prescriptions that you are supposed to should get you into trouble. It's just like they said, a pap saw a good opportunity to chase someone down and make a report to get money
