"All of us who worked with Heath accept this with an awful mixture of sadness and incredible pride," Nolan said.

Look back on Heath Ledger's life.

"After Heath passed on you saw a rip in cinema," Nolan said. Now, the director noted he looks at "the incredible place in the history of cinema that [Ledger] built with himself.

JeLoOfMySo - I think you should do a little bit of research before you (or maybe read the article you are commenting on). It states above in black and white that Heath died of an accidental prescription drug overdose. That does not make him a drug addict.

Heath Ledger was no JUNKIE!! As for who played the best JOKER, unless you've been living on another planet for the last year, you should know that Heath's potrayal blew Nicholson's out of the water. I noticed ole Jack wasn't in the audience at the Golden Globes.

For people saying Heath didn't deserve the award b/c he was a drug addict or he died, you better watch the film again. He truly gave the best performance of his career, something to match or even top Jack Nicholson's performance as the Joker. Regardless of whether or not he died, he still would've won dozens of awards b/c of his performance. Truly a fantastic performance; R

JeLoOfMySo is a idiot ! Why do you have to hate on a dead person. Its people like you that start the rumors. Maybe if you weren't so ignorant you would look in to how he died. I'm so glad that Heath won. He played a really great Joker in that movie.

I'm glad Heath won the award! Everyone nominated for this was good but Heath deserved this award for best supporting actor. He protrayed the Joker to pure perfection.Yes Jack Nickolson did too,but that was a whole different movie. The Dark knight was just like the title,Dark. The Joker was the meanest villian in the movies last year and no one could have or will do the Joker like Heath.we wil

ONLY IN HOLLYWIERD DO YOU DIE OF AN OVERDOSE CUZ YOU ARE A JUNKIE AND THEN GET HONORED FOR IT. IF THIS HAPPENED IN MY HOMETOWN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ETERNALLY LABELED A DRUG ADDICT, NOW HE IS A GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER. JACK NICKOLSON GETS MY VOTE FOR THE BEST JOKER.

Another irresponsible gift for the dead! There were so many more deserving actors who should have won this award, but Heath won it. I guess if you suck at acting and want to win an award, kill yourself and you'll be sure to win!
