WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Hayden Panettiere's Dad, Alan Panettiere, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife, Lesley Panettiere, the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department confirmed to Access Hollywood.
West Hollywood Sheriff's were called to the Panettiere's West Hollywood residence around 3 AM, Monday morning after a "difference of opinion" between the couple led to a fight, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department told Access.
The spokesperson said that while at a party earlier in the night, an incident occurred where Alan felt Lesley disrespected him. He allegedly hit Lesley on the cheek more than once, the spokesperson said.

Lesley called the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department directly to report the alleged incident
After West Hollywood Sheriff arrived on the scene, Alan was arrested on a felony count of domestic violence. Authorities told Access there were visible signs of injury on Lesley.
Alan remains in custody on $50,000 bail.

Lesley is now back home. Their daughter Hayden was not seen at the Sheriff's Department.

SInnocent until proven guilty. For all we know the person that was "hit" was a bipolar who slammed herself into a wall, then called the police. Being arrested is one thing, convicted another. And even if convicted a jury is often swayed by emotions, not just facts. Easy for a man to get arrested on a false accusation now days.
