From early cast-to-cast crushes to engagements, the young "Harry Potter" franchise film actors have been busy in the love department. With the U.S. premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2" just days away, here's a look at who's dating who, and who's happily --and not so happily-- single as the legendary saga comes to a close.
The mid-June rumor mill had Watson and her "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" co-star Johnny Simmons happily in love and poised to ride off into the Hollywood sunset together. But the ink from the presses barely had time to dry before the pixie actress' reps poo-pooed the idea, calling the winsome pair's relationship purely platonic. In fact, despite a long list of exes --she's held the affections of financier Jay Barrymore, fellow Brown University student Rafael Cebrian and indie rocker George Craig, among others-- and an early crush on fellow cast member Tom Felton, Hermione Granger's alter ego is currently single. She's publicly lamented her lack of luck in the love department, blaming "Potter" --and perhaps her own fame-- for her inability to get a date.
When it comes to love, the film franchise star likes to play it coy. Very, very coy. Radcliffe's dating resume is short and sweet, with just a small handful of ex-girlfriends officially tied to his name. He and his "Equus" co-star Laura O'Toole stepped out together --quietly-- between 2007 and 2009, and he allegedly dated "Potter" producer David Heyman's daughter Olive Uniacke last year, but never confirmed the pairing. Back in April, Radcliffe claimed to have a lady love, but again refused to name her, saying only that she's based in Britain and isn't an actress. Ooh, a mystery!
Everything's coming up roses in the romance department for Bonnie Wright, who plays Harry's love interest-turned-wife Ginny Weasley in the upcoming film. The 20-year old fashion-forward actress is engaged to fellow "Potter" star Jamie Campbell Bower, 22. The cute as a button couple met at a party in 2009 and Bower, who also took a turn as as vamp Caius in 2009's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," was such a good match for the pretty actress that some mags claimed he'd put a ring on it in the spring of 2010. Wright herself denied those reports, but Bower did indeed pop the big question a year later. They may be young, but they're smart: They're keeping their wedding plans under wraps and away from media scrutiny. For now.
Ginger-locked Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, was tabloid fodder back in late-April when he was briefly linked to 19-year old British actress Georgia Groome, who appeared in 2008's "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging." By current accounts, he's single. Maybe he should send a few well-placed looks in former crush Emma Watson's direction.Although -- it might not be likely, since the red-haired stud admitted kissing Emma was actually hard to do.
"Potter" bad-boy Draco Malfoy is all good man for longtime squeeze Jade Olivia. The two have been an item for more than three years; they started dating in February of 2008. At first encounter, ladykiller Felton smoked things up on-screen as Harry's Slytherin nemesis, while Olivia served as the stunt coordinator's assistant. The pretty pair was photographed together at the "Deathly Hallows 2" London premiere on July 7, with Olivia a vision in a stunning, figure-hugging white gown and Felton all kinds of smooth and dapper in a suit. If their relationship is as strong as their looks are good, they'll last a long, long time.
So what's next in the romance department for the all-grown-up stars of "Harry Potter?" You never can be sure!
