Gwyneth Paltrow attends the "SPAIN...On The Road Again" Launch Party on September 21, 2008 in New York City.Us Magazine
Ahead of her 36th birthday on Saturday, actress
Gwyneth Paltrow is
rediscovering her family's roots by experimenting with favorite
recipes.
"My dad [Bruce] was an insane pancake maker," the co-host of PBS'
Spain on the Road Again said at the launch party at the
Queen Sophia Spanish Institute in NYC last Sunday.
"Actually, I'm just working on a recipe right now I'm adapting to
make mine slightly more healthy," she said.

The mom to Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, has another cooking trick up her
sleeve.
"We have a wood-burning pizza oven in our garden," she said,
referring to her home in London with husband
Chris Martin.
"I'm using that oven a lot," she added. "Breads and pizzas and you
can cook anything in there -- it's amazing."

Paltrow's culinary tour of Spain with chef Mario Batali, Mark
Bittman and Claudia Bassols is documented on the PBS series and in
a new book.
One trade-off for the trip? She gained weight.
"In Spain they eat so late," Paltrow explained. "And so I would eat
a huge dinner and drink way too much wine and go to sleep and then
I wouldn't be able to do full exercises because I would be in the
car all day. So there we go."

How'd she lose the weight?
"With my trainer, Tracy [Anderson]," Paltrow said. "She just killed
me until the weight came off again."
