LONDON, England, UK -- Guy Ritchie is speaking out in defense of his ex, Madonna , after a Malawai judge denied her request to adopt a three-year-old girl from the African nation.

" Madonna is a fantastic and loving mother who cares deeply about her own children, and children who may need additional help and support," Guy said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

Guy said he was "saddened" by the judge's refusal to allow the pop star to bring home little Chifundo "Mercy" James.

"I fully supported Madonna in her decision to apply for this adoption, and I am saddened that her application has been rejected," his statement continued. "She is motivated only by being a caring parent who seeks to share some of the advantages and opportunities that her life has given her.

"This time it did not work out, but there will be other opportunities and I wish her well in them. She is a great mum," Guy's statement concluded.

Madonna 's lawyer has filed notice that he will appeal the judge's ruling.

What does he care? He already divorced her and has his fair share of her money. If she cared about your opinion maybe you would still be married. Carl Wiley Author The Ring of Knowledge

These so called "GROUPS" who advocate that all children should stay in their own country and not be adopted, need a serious wake up call. We gave money to orphans in Guatemala and still their quality of life did not improve. We managed to adopt one . Unicef help close adoptions, orphanges are overcrowed and badly run. I am not a Madonna fan, but good luck to her .

American , English and other "industrial" nations make it extremely difficult for people who want to adopt to adopt. Single women or men, gay couples, disabled couples, interracial couples, interfaith couples find so many obsticales in place that no it is not easy "just to adopt in your own country". People who have not been through the process of trying to ad

There are now these "Foreign Adoption Activist Groups" who claim they want to stop foreign adoptions because they believe it's best for the child to be raised in their own countries. These groups are really racist organizations who do not believe whites should be adopting non-white children and believe that ophanned children in other countries should just fend for themse

Why don't you people go adopt American children! She would rather save a Malawi child whose life span in 30 years old over there. American orphanages are A LOT better. Even if you think they aren't, you can't compare them to Malawi orphanages. And so what if Mercy has family?! They can't care for her, hence putting her in an orphanage! Madonna would provide a better

So, the child's mother dies at the age of 14.....yes, 14. The grandmother and so called family do what - stick the kid in an orphanage....read the print.....and some of you people think that's just fine and dandy! The child has family - but guess what - the family doesn't have the child...the orphanage does! I'm not a fan of Madonna's but I do admire what

Credit the Malawi court with ruling against this phony who wants to profit on its country's misery for her own good and not the child's.
