Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley are adopting a baby, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

The Grey's Anatomy star, 30 who wed her musician husband, 29, in December 2007 announced the news on Friday's Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"It is a little girl and she'll be 10 months at the end this month," she said. "She was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign. I realized just recently that I basically forfeited my birthday for the rest of my life."

RadarOnline.com, which first reported the news, says the 10-month-old is named Nayleigh.

On Ellen, Heigl explained the name.

"I am naming her after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh," she said. "So we call her Naleigh."

Heigl, whose sister Meg was adopted from Korea, has said she "always planned" to adopt.

"I'm done with the whole idea of having my own children," Heigl has told USA Today. "[It] doesn't seem like any fun. I don't think it's necessary to go through all of that."

ABC announced on Sept. 2 that Heigl is taking a five-episode break from Grey's Anatomy, but has already taped six episodes that will air through November.

She begins filming romantic comedy Life As We Know It costarring Josh Duhamel next week.

First of all Plumeria, they're adopting from KOREA, not China. Second, no need to bash other cultures no matter how much you disagree with them.

Wow ppl don't get so bent out of shape over her child bearing comment. Not all woman want kids ....geez It is a lot to go through and a huge life changing decision. Who knows maybe her mind will change after holding her daughter. We are so quick to bash ppl we don't know personally.

B/c kids from China aren't screwed up like ours. Girls are let at orphanages b/c of their old stupid cultural ideas. Most of our orphans were born to drug addicted mothers, taken from bad homes, the list goes on; basically they have a lot of emotional baggage. Plus if you adopt a baby from China you don't have to worry about a mom trying to get it back.

Nice that you have money to adopt a child so easily, too bad it wasn't an American child, as so many of them need to be adopted, too. I understand if her sister was a Korean adoptee, but couldn't you find the same type of child in this country. Since they haven't dated or been married that long, I only hope they do stay together to provide a stable and loving home for their

I'm glad that she decided to adopt, because so many babies/kids need good homes. However, what about all of the unwanted children in the USA? Everyone seems to forget about these precious children.
