Gospel singer Winans to eulogize Houston in NJ

Fans of the late singer Whitney Houston comfort each other outside of Whigham Funeral Home, where the body of singer is held since its arrival in New Jersey, Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, in Newark, N.J. Funeral services for Houston are set for Feb. 18 at New Hope Baptist Church. Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, died Feb. 11. She was 48. NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Gospel singer Marvin Winans has been chosen to deliver the eulogy for singer and longtime friend Whitney Houston at her funeral Saturday in New Jersey.

Marvin Winans is a Grammy Award-winning member of one of gospel music's first families. In his role as a pastor he married Houston and Bobby Brown in 1992.

Winans son, Marvin Jr., and Marvin Winans' office at Perfecting Faith Church in Detroit confirmed to The Associated Press on Tuesday he will eulogize Houston at the private funeral at Newark's New Hope Baptist Church.

The Winans and Houston families have been friends for years. Houston performed with Marvin Winans' sisters CeCe and BeBe.

The funeral home handling the arrangements has not issued any details on Saturday's service.

I'm still reeling. My head drops and I still can't come to terms with the reality. I'm a daughter who lost a mother and a mother who lost a daughter and I know the pain and grief Cissy and Bobbi Kristina are feeling. May they find comfort in God's embrace knowing that Whitney is no longer in pain. An angel's voice has returned home to join the heavenly choir. R.I.P.

Every step of her life mirrors mine. And I am so sad that she did not get another chance to live in peace and happiness. Most fans did not care if she sang again. She gave us enough songs to last a life time. Most of us wanted her to find true happiness and joy. Although I know she knew God could heal all, it takes some time to realize that and hopefully by the time you do, it is not too late. REST in the Peace of GOD Whitney

Please Rev. Eulogize her and her life, not build on your church. Don't talk about how others can get their lives together. Whitney is the one that is gone, lets not worry about those who are there at this time. Pls celebrate her life and time, let those who are there worry about there own. LETS CELEBRATE WHITNEY HUSTON.

I wonder if the 'gospel singer' will be wacked out
on drugs while she is belting away her phoney love for jesus?
it would only be apprpriate for the occasion, consisdering the object
of the exercise. maybe her and Bobby can shoot some good stuff up
prior to their enthralling performance. Ooohh, I do hope their are real
crocodie tears coming fron the guests. So long, Houston. I hated
      every single note you sang.

Make sure they don't glorify her lifestyle. She suffered from a horrendous deseise of alcoholisim and did nothing to care for herself. preach that to her possy at the church. She could have lived, had she done what she needed to do for her desiese. Plain and simple. Don't lie to the masses. Tell it like it is.
