Nope, she tweeted on Monday.
"I'm not engaged," she tweeted on Monday. "I've worn this same ring on this finger since November! People just wanna find something to [talk] about! It's a topaz people!"
Did she do it for the publicity? Some are saying yes, but we're glad she's just drumming up controversy and isn't actually engaged. Why? So many people (celebrity and mere mortal) have divorced after getting married at a young age. We don't have to look far to find celebs who divorced after marrying at an obscenely young age.
Singer and actress Ashlee Simpson and her Fall Out Boy rocker, Pete Wentz, married in 2008 when Simpson was 24 and Wentz was 29. The couple had a child, Bronx Mowgli, before separating in February 2011. Their divorce was finalized in December 2011, but they remain on friendly terms.
"We try to make his life as easy to navigate as possible and he's growing up so it's important for everyone who loves him to be involved in his life," Wentz said of how they're co-parenting their son.
Actress Kate Hudson married The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson when she was 21. They later had a son, Ryder, before divorcing in 2007. They've both moved on - Hudson is currently engaged to Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy and Robinson is married. Like Simpson and Wentz, Hudson told Elle U.K. that they're on friendly terms.
"If you have kids with someone, make sure you really, really like the father because, for your child's sake, you have to be on the same page forever," she said. "Chris has moved on, he's remarried and had a baby and when you both have new people in your life, you have to really stay on it. I think Chris and I both have that priority checked."
Canadian punk-pop princess Avril Lavigne was only 21 when she married Sum 41 lead singer Deryck Whibley in 2006. They divorced in 2010, but Whibley still served as producer on his ex-wife's last album.
"We're not doing each other but yes, we're friends. I really respect him as a person and as an artist so it's all good. Deryck is very inspiring to me. He's so talented, and I really look up to him. I call him all the time, like, 'Yo, I've got a music question. Help me.' He has such a kind heart and he's so smart. We're there for each other," she told Chelsea Handler in March 2011.
