"Glee's" Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) could use a little love in her life. We're glad that she's finally gotten some much-deserved screen time, but we wish that she didn't have to spend it "vapo-raping" gay Blaine (Darren Criss).
Who should Tina date? Here are a few possibilities:
Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.)
I'm not sold on this former couple as end game. They didn't seem to have a lot in common, other than being the only Asian kids in the glee club.
Mike was a hot popular guy who played football, while Tina was an introvert with a counter-cultural streak. He grew up with a super-strict Asian father and a mother who insisted on taking him and his girlfriend to dim sum every weekend. She has more laid-back parents who support her artistic aspirations.
On the other hand, "Chang-Chang" was one of the show's longest-running and least-dysfunctional couples. She also inspired him and gave him the courage to pursue his dream of becoming a dancer.
Ryder Lynn (Blake Jenner)
Instead of pursuing the cliched straight girl/gay guy story line with Blaine, the writers could have explored new territory by having Tina fall for the hot underclassman, Ryder.
Tina's character is really coming into her own this season. She's bringing out the snark and channeling her inner diva. Giving her a hot younger guy would add to that confidence boost.
Ryder could use a new love interest as well. We're sick of seeing him mope over sad sack Marley (Melissa Benoist).
Warbler Wes (Telly Leung)
Sure, he hasn't been around since season 2, but there was always something endearing about Dalton's cute Asian Warbler. Wes was part of an era when the Warblers represented honor, dignity, and zero tolerance for bullying.
If Tina liked Blaine, then she would certainly like Wes. He possesses many of Blaine's best qualities, and he's straight.
Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale)
As soon as Tina and Artie were revealed to be a year younger than the original cast, I had a sneaking feeling that "Glee" would revisit their season 1 romance. Although Tina and Artie have barely interacted since their breakup, he did seem a bit jealous when she asked Blaine to the Sadie Hawkins dance.
Tina and Artie were a sweet couple. He gave her the courage to come out of her shell and to stop faking her stutter. And she always believed in him and supported his dreams of walking and even becoming a dancer.
Sure, Artie objectified her for a while, and criticized her vampire wardrobe choices. And Tina was pretty callous in the way she that she dumped him for Mike. But this was three years ago. and they've hopefully matured since then.
Are Tina and Artie end game? Or does she belong with Mike? Who should she date in the meantime?
