Glee mastermind Ryan Murphy is planning a remake of The Who's 1969 rock opera Tommy in upcoming episode of the Fox show, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Glee Shooting Whitney Houston Tribute Episode

The band's concept album, which tells the story of a "deaf, dumb and blind" boy who becomes the leader of a religious movement, was adapted into a 1975 movie featuring Who front man Roger Daltrey, Jack Nicholson, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Elton John. It later became a stage musical penned by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff.

Townshend and Daltrey are reportedly in talks to appear on the episode. Emails to the show's reps were not immediately returned.

The Fox musical drama is notorious for doing tributes. The show has previously tipped its hat to Rocky Horror Picture Show and, most recently, began production on a themed episode to honor the late Whitney Houston.
