LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Bon Appetit!
Who would have dreamed that a towering 6-foot-2 spy turned chef would be the hottest thing going in Hollywood right now?! Julia Child introduced French cuisine to the American mainstream through her many cookbooks and TV shows, in essence setting the stage for everyone from Emeril to "Top Chef" to gourmet Gwyneth Paltrow, who whips up dishes on her website, GOOP.com.

And now, five years after the death of the famed chef with the distinctive vocal delivery, it's a virtual Julia Child's love fest kick started by the new movie "Julie & Julia," starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. I saw the movie last night - make sure you eat before you go - you will be salivating looking at all the yummy dishes!
Megan Fox may have her own "Transformers" action figure, but that's nothing compared to "Julie & Julia" related merchandise. The movie has spawned tie-ins with Le Cordon Bleu, Bloomingdale's, Dean & Deluca, Le Creuset, Borders and Scharffen Berger Chocolates. And then there are the cookbooks. Julia's most famous titles have been repackaged in conjunction with the films release. ("Mastering the Art of French Cooking", "My Life in France" and "Julia's Kitchen Wisdom").

Don't forget about the book that the movie is based on. In "Julie & Julia," the author, Julie Powell, is on a quest to make every one of Julia's recipes.
"I like Julia Child's Tarragon Chicken, that roast chicken is pretty great," says Meryl, who took cooking classes to play the famed chef. Amy Adams, who plays the author, took cooking classes as well, but maybe that didn't go so well for her because when we asked her what her specialty is...
"Ah, takeout!... for the most part," she confessed with a laugh.
Classic answer! Love it!
