LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- "I really like denim leggings because, they are a good compromise between the legging and the jean and you can still wear them with boots once it gets colder."
That's the always stylish Rachel Bilson on her favorite denim trend for Fall at last night's Lucky Magazine and Madewell Fall Denim Tour event. I'm not sure I myself will do the denim legging thing, but I wanted to know what the hot denim trends are for Fall. So, I went to Celebrity Stylist Estee Stanley, who has worked with one fabulous star after another... (I kid you not... we're talking Mary Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Eva Mendes, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, etc, etc.)

"I can't think of one other fashion item that can uniformly change a girl's look, as well as her attitude," Estee says. "With an abundance of cuts & style, you have no excuse not to find your perfect live-in pair! But when you go shopping, don't forget the golden rule: don't be a slave to trends. Stick with what works for YOU."
Well said. And with that - here are Estee's picks for Fall's biggest denim trends...

SKINNY JEANS
Skinnies are here to stay. A perfectly cut skinny with an amazing wash can dress up an outfit in a snap, while a just-so thrashed skinny can create a punk-chic story on just about anyone. Pair your skinnies with an oversized or loose top to create a balanced look (we're going for 2010, not 1980). My favorite skinny jeans come from Jet by John Eshaya. (Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson and Kim Kardashian are also fans.) They're super-comfy, like a perfect legging (and I promise you, you'll look 10 pounds lighter in them). I'm loving Jet's "Cloudy" and "Crystal" jeans. (available at www.johneshaya.com)
STRAIGHT
Straight cut jeans are a great alternative to skinnies. Because they're not skin-tight, but still close to the body, they can be paired with everything from oversized tops to blazers to fitted T's. I am a huge fan of Citizens of Humanity and their straight jeans are some of the best. (available at www.revolveclothing.com) For a more wallet-friendly alternative, try Gap's "Real Straight" jeans from their 1969 collection. (www.gap.com)
BOYFRIEND JEAN
These are your get up and go jeans with some extra oomph. Relaxed, extra comfortable. Roll them up with heels or keep them low with flats - what could be better? Try "The Ex-Lover" from Joe's Jeans - you'll live in them. (Katie Holmes is a huge fan) (available at www.joesjeans.com)

FLARE
These jeans never go out of style for good reason - they look amazing on every shape and are a great friend to a woman with curves. MiH Jeans' ultra-popular style "Marrakesh" is a perfect jean to try - the long leg and kick flare elongates every leg and gives a little lift to the rear. This is a miracle jean for just about everyone - just ask fans Katie Holmes, Rachel McAdams or Jennifer Connelly. Try these in the blue-black Kara wash or the dark velvets. (available at www.revolveclothing.com)
Don't forget about texture! Almost every denim brand creates their best jeans styles in corduroy and velvet. It's a great update to your wardrobe.
