Audi's Annual Pre-Emmy shindig marks the beginning of awards season in Hollywood, the first big party leading into the Emmys (and taking everyone who's anyone straight on to the Oscars), and the third annual bash held on September 16 was the best one yet!
Elegant Audi A8L luxury sedans transported the stars to the bash, which seems to get more glam every year. Rumer Willis was dressed for a ball, in a purple Catherine Malandrino satin gown worthy of an awards show; and her arm candy, actor Jayson Blair (in a Ted Baker suit) was a nice accessory as well. That couple stayed joined at the hip all night, while "Glee" hottie Chord Overstreet roamed the party solo.
He sure found plenty of eye candy at the packed event that filled Cecconi's fantastic Italian eatery and spilled out into the transformed parking area, where carpeting and faux walls turned it into extra, much-needed space. That's where the "Modern Family" clan hung out. Nominees Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet were the center of attention, joined by more nominees, including Cat Deeley and Melissa McCarthy. That power crowd drew in a gaggle of gorgeous gals to their circle, from Missi Pyle, Christina Moore and Kate Walsh to Brittany Snow and Rachael Leigh Cook.
Cook eyed her longtime pal Missi Pyle and said with a wide grin, "I'm not going to let her pick me up THIS year!" (That was a truly wacky moment from last year's bash.) Happily, she had her handsome hubby Daniel Gillies (the "Vampire Diaries" and "Saving Hope" hunk) along this time to protect her. Chef Giada De Laurentiis brought her husband, too, clothing designer Todd Thompson. He met up with fellow designer Derek Lam, who co-sponsored the party along with Audi.
Everyone indulged in the fantastic fare that Cecconi's serves, including an amazing truffle pizza and some mighty fine tiny short-rib sandwiches. And, as usual, the later it got, the more people started dancing to DJ Michelle Pesce's eclectic music mix.
Some of the "Mad Men" crowd made the scene, too, including creator Matthew Weiner and Ben Feldman (who are both nominated for Emmys), along with Rich Sommer and Michael Gladis, who popped in early with his girlfriend Beth Behrs, of "2 Broke Girls" fame.
Also on hand to celebrate the start of Emmy Awards week with Audi were Charlotte Ross, Azita Ghanizada, Gabriel Mann, Sarah Paulson, Nia Vardalos, Michael Steger and "Breaking Bad" beauty Betsy Brandt. All in all, it was quite the celebrity turnout for the launch of the fall party season in L.A.!
