George Clooney is coming to the defense of pal -- and Cindy Crawford's husband -- Rande Gerber, who is currently being sued for sexual harassment.

"I was with Rande the entire night -- as were a lot of people," he said in a statement to Usmagazine.com Monday, regarding an occasion in which two former female employees said Gerber tried to kiss and fondle them. "They will all say the same thing that I'm saying. This event never happened. Period."

The lawsuit was filed in March in San Diego County Superior Court by a pair of former waitresses who claimed they were fired from a restaurant owned by Gerber's company for refusing to give in to the advances of Gerber and other managers where they worked.

On one occasion in 2008, while working at the Moonstone Lounge in San Diego, one of the women claims the supermodel's husband attempted to kiss her three times during the night, then "put his hand up [her] dress in between her legs in an attempt to fondle her crotch," TMZ reported.

"Mr. Gerber and Mr. Clooney will take lie detector tests to prove that the allegations against Mr. Gerber are false," a Gerber Group spokesperson told TMZ Monday.

He added: "Mr. Gerber will not settle this extortion case even for a single dollar and will take all actions necessary to clear his name, including filing a $10 million lawsuit for malicious prosecution once these allegations are proven false."

Gerber, 47, owns the Midnight Oil chain of bars and lounges. He and Crawford, who have been married for 11 years, have two children, Presley, 9, and Kaia, 7.

George Clooney has a lot of male "best pals". I truly think he's a homo. He is incapable of having a sustained relationship with a women, and has these young women "on his arm" for show.... one after the other. I really do think he's gay, and have thought that for a long time now.

George Clooney seems to feel that his opinion on things should matter and that his word means something to people. He couldn't possibly know what happened every minute of the evening in question so he should just keep his mouth shut. He speaks out on behalf of others so that no one pays attention to his own questionable character.

And there are people who use their Star Status to try to get money from them. You do not know what happened nor do I. Once the proof is shown then make the decision

Oh great scott!! George will do anything to get in the news! He and all the "others" that were there were probably doing the same thing! Celebrities think they should be able to get away with murder (and some DO)! It's a shame we give them such acknowledgement when most are dumb as dirt!!
