The question of whether life exists on other planets is one that has haunted the human race since we first learned that there were other planets in our universe. There's a fascination innate to our species that forces us to ponder whether we are truly alone or not. There are skeptics and believers on both sides of the issue. For actress Fran Drescher though, there's no doubt that alien life exists. She's seen it first hand, according to a recent interview.
In the interview, the star of "The Nanny" says that she and her ex-husband Peter Jacobson both had almost identical experiences with aliens in their teens. "... we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet." Drescher even offered up some "evidence" of their shared experience, a scar on each of their bodies in the same place. Jacobson though says he believes Fran's scar came from some other place besides an alien probe.
By no means is Fran the first celebrity to claim a belief in visitors from another planet, and others have said they too were taken. Maybe it's the close proximity to the big studios that turn out movies like "Star Wars" and "Men in Black," but there have been a few stars to claim to have been abducted, and many others who've gone on the record as believers. Here now are a few of the more notable cases.
Sammy Hagar - The man behind Cabo Wabo Tequila and the one time Van Halen front man wrote in his autobiography that he was abducted by aliens. Though in the book, titled "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock," the story is told as a dream sequence, Hagar later admitted in interviews that his tale of kidnapping at the hands of aliens was in fact a true story. Hagar described the details of how the aliens tapped into his mind wirelessly. However, there were no details from Sammy as to whether his captors' spaceship could travel 55 miles per hour.
Shirley MacLaine - She's Hollywood royalty, a veteran of the silver screen for decades. Though she's never claimed to have been taken away by visitors, she's reportedly a strong believer in life on other worlds. In fact, her belief that aliens exist reportedly helped her make the decision to have part of her personal wealth protected by an insurance policy in the event of an alien invasion.
Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan - They served in the highest office in the country consecutively, and though their political beliefs could not have been more diametrically opposed, both men shared a belief in aliens and UFOs. During his campaign in 1976 Carter promised to release all UFO-related documents the government had since he had seen a UFO himself as a child. Reagan, otherwise known as "The Anti-Carter" president, also said that had seen a UFO while in flight and had asked the pilot to tail the craft.
