Katharine McPhee goes blonde as she promotes her new album 'Unbroken' UniversalAccess Hollywood
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Former Season 5 "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee has long been known for lengthy brown locks, but she's decided blondes have more fun - at least for her new album campaign.
In new images to promote "Unbroken," which is due out on October 6, the singer shed her long brunette main for a bleach blonde rocker style look.

"I've never dyed my hair before so this was a pretty drastic change," she told People magazine. "I've always been known as a brunette but I've been thinking about it for a long time and it kind of just fit with all of the searching with the music and experimenting that I would do the same thing with my look."
Katharine, released her debut, self-titled album in 2007, and she says she's grown from that first release, musically.

"My music is a little more edgy so that inspired me to be adventurous," she told the mag.
