Jennifer Lawrence has always been one of the most promising up and coming actresses in Hollywood. Now after her highly acclaimed role as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games," and generating Oscar buzz for her role as recovering sex-addict Tiffany in "Silver Linings Playbook," this 22 year-old actress is poised to become a huge break-out star. Here are five things you may not know about this Golden Globe nominee.
She was ready to fight off home intruders "Katniss Everdeen" style
In the January 2013 issue of Vanity Fair, Lawrence recalls coming home from the set of "The Hunger Games" when she heard men's voices coming from her home after she had pulled into her garage. She grabbed her bow and arrow and went to confront the intruders. Turns out, there was no home invasion at all, the men were there working on her house.
Jennifer is the second youngest actress to ever be nominated for a "Best Actress" Academy Award
When she was nominated for a Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar back in 2010, she became the second youngest to be nominated for the award. The youngest was Keisha Castle-Hughes for "Whale Rider" back in 2002.
She learns incredible skills for her movie roles
Lawrence became a skilled archer for her role as Katniss Everdeen in " The Hunger Games," as well as learning ballroom dancing for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook." But did you know she also learned to skin a squirrel, chop wood and fight for her role as Ree Dolly in "Winter's Bone" last year?
Jennifer doesn't believe in the "Hollywood" ideal of stick-thin actresses
In her April 2012 interview with Glamour magazine, Jennifer was refreshingly candid with how much she hates working out, and went a step further in her December 2012 ELLE magazine interview, saying that by Hollywood standards she's considered 'obese,' would never consider starving herself for a role, and realizes that because of her role as Katniss, little girls would look up to her and she wants to set a good body image example for her young fans.
She's a huge fan of Jeff Bridges
"The Big Lebowski" is Jennifer's favorite movies, and she's a huge fan of Lebowski himself, Jeff Bridges. As Teen Vogue noted in an interview with Jennifer, she was so excited to have him introduce her at the 2011 Academy Awards. She's always quick to throw out one of the famous lines from the movie when being interviewed.
So as you can see, there's more to know about Jennifer Lawrence. We'll probably see a lot more of her as the awards season starts to heat up. At only 22, there's a lot more to expect from this breakout actress.
