On July 27, Vince Vaughn hits the big screen once again with fellow Frat Packer Ben Stiller as well as Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade in "The Watch." Vaughn came on to the scene in the 1996 indie hit "Swingers" and solidified his spot among this generation's comedic heavy hitters with 2005's "Wedding Crashers." Now he's back in "The Watch" playing a suburban dad forced to save the world from an alien invasion. Aside from his public relationship with Jennifer Aniston after "The Break-Up" Vaughn has mostly managed to keep his private life to himself. But here a few things you may not know about the star of "The Watch."
Vince Vaughn Was Class President
Despite less than stellar grades, Vaughn was so popular at Lake Forest High School that he was voted senior class president. He allegedly ran for the office figuring if he was president he would be asked to speak at the commencement ceremony and if he was speaking they would have to give him a diploma. Although he almost did not graduate he managed to get by and went on to study improv and land an agent paving the way for his successful movie career.
Vince Vaughn Was Once a Telemarketer
Long before he was a swinger or a wedding crasher Vaughn was a telemarketer. He told Ellen DeGeneres in May of 2012 that as one of his summer jobs, when he was 17 years old, he sold tickets to a police rodeo over the phone. He also mentioned that looking back now he's not convinced that the fundraising drive, for which he convinced people to buy tickets to send young orphans to a rodeo, was completely on the up-and-up.
Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau Go Way Back
Even before Vaughn and Jon Favreau paired up for "Swingers" the two worked together on a film called "Rudy" in 1993. It was on this film that the two actors became good friends, striking up a working relationship that has led to six films together to date including, "Couples Retreat" and "The Break-Up."
His Mom Is a Well-Known Fitness Instructor
Vaughn's mother Shea Vaughn is a fitness instructor with her own fitness program called SheaNetics - a mix of yoga, pilates, martial arts, dance and more. In a 2010 interview she said her son has done the workout and in 2012 mom and son demonstrated some of the exercises on the Ellen show.
Vince Vaughn Is a Rabid Chicago Blackhawks Fan
Having grown up in Illinois, Vaughn is a rabid Chicago Blackhawks fan. He is seen frequently at games and was asked to present at the 2012 NHL Awards held this past June in Las Vegas. He gave the Hart Trophy for Most Valuable Player to Evgeni Malkin from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
