Barack Obama upgraded his attire for his convention speech in
Denver tonight.
The senator will accept the Democratic Party's nomination for
president wearing a custom-made navy blue, worsted wool two-button
suit made from 97 percent merino wool and 3 percent cashmere, the
Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The suit -- a 40 long with a 33-inch waist -- was produced by
Chicago-based manufacturer Hart Schaffner Marx. A retail version
would sell for $1,500.
Obama usually wears off-the-rack Hartmarx suits but made an
exception for tonight.

Hartmarx is the largest U.S. tailored clothing company; their
products are made in Des Plaines, IL.
"We don't talk about this because we've been making suits for
presidents, vice presidents and senators for more than 100 years,"
Hartmarx CEO Homi Patel told the
Sun-Times. "The reason we
continue making them is because we don't talk about it."
Michelle Obama also favors a Chicago designer, Maria Pinto, who was
responsible for the turquoise blue dress she wore when giving the
convention keynote.
