‘Fashion Star’ Winner Kara Laricks: ‘Jessica Simpson Has Such A Kind, Warm Heart’
The ‘Fashion Star’ winner shared her personal experience with the talented team of mentors — and she gushed about how Jessica was her number one motivator throughout the competition!
After keeping the outcome of her success on the show hush hush for roughly nine months, the winner of ‘Fashion Star, Kara Laricks, expressed what a relief it was to be able to finally celebrate her big win with friends after watching the exciting finale. “It was just like a huge sigh of relief and so exciting to be able to finally blab about it!” She also went on to share her personal experience, working with the amazing team.
None of Kara’s success would have been made possible without her amazing mentors, whom she laments on aiding to her achievement, each in different ways. “All three mentors were wonderful,” Kara said when we caught up with her after her big win at H&M in NYC.
She said it was working with Jessica Simpson that really stayed with her. “Jessica has such a kind, warm heart and whenever I needed encouragement that’s who I sought out,” she said. We’re so happy she found such an amazing support system on the show!
Kara also went on to praise the other mentors, saying she appreciated Nicole Richie‘s “honest critique.” As for John Varvatos, “I admire him as an iconic figure and the empire that he has built,” Kara said.
The winner certainly got the support and confidence she needed for her big moment– watching her gorgeous gown float down the runway on the finale. “I was thrilled by their reaction of that gown!” We can’t blame her! “As soon as I saw it on the model and saw it start moving, floating down the runway, it was a spectacular feeling, absolutely.”
After seeing all her hard work pay off, Kara’s success doesn’t just end with the show! She also said she has learned so much from designing — and she plans to continue to craft collections that are stylish without having to break the bank! “I understand how much people want affordable fashion that is stylish and on trend,” she said. “I want to make sure people get what they want.”
In addition to the mentors on the show, Kara admits she would love to see her clothing on her long time idol, Tilda Swinton. “I love that she stands out in a sea of a lot of people that might look the same she always has a really unique sense of style,” Kara said. “It would be an honor to dress her!”
We can’t wait to see what else Kara has in store for us!
