Redmond O'Neal left jail on Saturday to visit his cancer-stricken mother, actress

Redmond, the son of Fawcett and
Ryan O'Neal , was allowed to leave prison with a police escort after a judge signed a court order on Friday, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department confirmed to
Entertainment Tonight Monday.
The son of the former
Charlie's Angels star was given a three-hour window from departure to return for the visit.
See photos of stars who have beat cancer.According to police, the family had to pay almost $1,300 for the visit, which is occasionally allowed for inmates who have gravely ill family members.
The visit comes more than a week after the 24-year-old -- incarcerated for a violation of his parole stemming from drug charges -- told a judge that his mother weighed only 86 pounds.
Check out photos of other stars in court.Her physician Lawrence Piro told Usmagazine.com Tuesday that the 5'6 1/2" actress, 62, a week ago, weighed more than Redmond claimed.
"She was 101 pounds," said Piro, who called it "a reasonable weight" under the circumstances.
See photos of today's top celeb news stories.Although that is down some from her normal weight, "she's continuing to eat and trying to gain weight," Piro told Us. "It's a struggle that all cancer patients go through."
Fawcett, who is battling anal cancer, is currently in Malibu at Ryan's oceanfront home.
