Production on Courteney Cox's ABC series Cougar Town has been suspended while the star deals with a "family matter," Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

"We can confirm production on Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter," ABC tells Us in a statement.

Cox, 45, headlines the freshman divorcee comedy as Jules Cobb, a single mom dating in her forties. Dawson's Creek alum Busy Philipps, Scrubs regular Christa Miller and Drew Carey's Ian Gomez also star.
