Actress Kim Fields knows what to expect when she's expecting! The former "Facts Of Life" star (she played Tootie on the long-running 1980's NBC sitcom) has just announced she is pregnant with her second child with hubby Christopher Morgan.
According to People, the actress made the surprising announcement during a taping of the syndicated FOX chatfest "The Real," showing off her bun in the oven and proudly beaming, "This is Quincy Xavier." The 44-year-old mom-to-be also revealed that the pregnancy was planned.
"We've actually been trying for a couple years. We had gotten pregnant twice and [miscarried]," she said. "Funny enough, for a minute I thought I was getting pre-menopausal 'cuz certain things were starting to be irregular and then other symptoms started - my memory and I was clumsier than normal which I couldn't even believe was possible. Then our son got sick with a stomach virus and I caught it. Chris said, 'No, babe, you're a little sicker than Sebastian. You need to go and get that checked out' and I said, 'Okay.' They tested me and said, 'Oh honey, you're not dehydrated. You're two months pregnant.'"
Fields said that while her later in life pregnancy could be "encouraging" to older mom wannabes, she added, "It's not like I'm the poster child for over 40 and pregnant."
But come on, someone has to be! Check out these other over-40 celebs who are currently sporting baby bumps.
At age 46, Halle Berry is pregnant with her second child. The Oscar winner, who had her first child at age 41, told CNN of her unexpected pregnancy, "This has been the biggest surprise of my life to tell you the truth. I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful." Berry and husband Oliver Martinez are expecting a boy.
Maya Rudolph is 40 years old and expecting another baby with longtime love Paul Thomas Anderson. The "Up All Night" star -- who's already mom to Pearl, 7, Lucille, 3, and Jack, 2 -- joked to Ellen DeGeneres, "This will be number four. This is like a modern-day version of 'The Waltons' at this point."
And 44-year-old actress Kathryn Morris is expecting twins in September. The former "Cold Case" star told Us Weekly she and boyfriend Johnny Messner are "beyond excited and doubly blessed!"
Meanwhile, this over-40 pregnancy trend could really be catching on. Earlier this year, 44-year-old "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kyle Richards told Radar Online that she'd love to have another baby. The reality TV mom -- who already has four daughters ranging in age from 5 to 24 -- said, "Yes, I want more babies. I was only 19 when I had my first baby, and my husband said 'Our friends are just starting to have kids and we have one leaving the house,'… I definitely want another one."
