LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Eva Mendes has spoken out publicly for the first time since her rehab stint earlier this year for what her rep previously described as "personal issues."
At a luncheon for Fresh Cosmetics and the clothing line Rose on Tuesday in Los Angeles, the star of "We Own the Night" did not comment specifically on her stay at the Cirque Lodge center in Utah, but said things are going well.

"[I'm] taking a break and having a good time" Eva told reporters.
Mendes said she was granted the break thanks to a changing movie promotion schedule.

"I'm actually taking advantage of my time off," she said, according to People. "You know, I had a film that was pushed, so I'm home spending time with my family, going to the gym and actually enjoying taking care of myself."
Although it was unclear if it was related to her rehab stint or personal growth, the "Ghost Rider" star said 2008 has treated her well, thus far.

"This year has been great for me because I've learned how to relax," Mendes said. "The last three years have been amazing but kind of crazy. So I don't know, I feel grounded. I feel really good."
Mendes said her romantic life has been on an upswing, as well.
