LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Eric Bana may spend much of romantic drama "The Time Traveler's Wife" in the nude, but the star told Access Hollywood he didn't stress about working out for the role.
"Abs are for people with no friends," he said. "I don't do the ab thing. I've even had them once, actually, for a film, and they were always covered up. I just said to myself, 'Well, I'll just never do that again.' That was a waste of time. There's so much more to enjoy in life."

One thing the star's been enjoying lately is winning big at the box office. He earned the No. 1 movie this weekend alongside Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen in Judd Apatow comedy "Funny People," and also stars as the villainous Nero in one of the summer's most successful films, "Star Trek."
"It's been a lot of fun," Eric said. "They were pretty well spread out when we were actually making them and are all three completely different movies and types of characters."

For "The Time Traveler's Wife," which is due in theaters on August 14, that type was an emotional one.
"The movie's very romantic," Eric said. "Henry's just a guy who's in love and I think that's a masculine thing."
And while the leading man may not show off a six-pack in the film, fans will see plenty of him thanks to the film's sci-fi elements.

"We had a time traveling expert on the set who said that for a fact if [Henry] were to time travel he would be naked," Eric said. "We just had to take his word for it."
