Emma Watson is heading back to school. The actress, who rose to fame thanks to her roles in the "Harry Potter" films, is planning on returning to Brown University. The 22-year-old actress will take a break from her career and return to the Ivy League school early next year. From there, she will complete the courses she needs for her degree. Emma took a break from school in 2011 because of her understandably busy schedule, but she was always intent on returning. "I will still be working towards my degree," said the studious star. "It's just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought." Once she does earn that degree, she will join a couple of other distinguished Brown alumni in the Hollywood community. Here are a few other stars that earned degrees from the prestigious school.
A Massachusetts native, John only had a short move to Rhode Island to pursue his studies at Brown. John was active in the theater program at Brown, and earned his degree in 2001. After a couple of small movie roles, he caught his big break when he landed a leading role on the NBC comedy "The Office" in 2005. John's movie career has picked up over the last few years, so he should have plenty to keep him busy when the show ends its run next spring.
Laura originally attended Northwestern, but transferred to Brown to pursue her studies. She earned her degree in 1986, and then went to study at the acclaimed Juilliard School. Since then, her successful acting career speaks for itself. Laura has earned an impressive three Oscar nominations, with her most recent one coming with the 2007 film "The Savages." In addition to the Oscar praise, Laura has won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes.
Julie is the latest Brown grad to be honored with an Emmy. She just picked up her second straight trophy for her role as Claire on the hit series "Modern Family." While at Brown, the star majored in Italian Renaissance studies before earning her degree in 1991. In addition to "Modern Family," Julie also starred in the series "Boston Legal." She also has a number of movie roles to her credit, including roles in comedies like "Happy Gilmore" and "Horrible Bosses."
