LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi 's August 2008 marriage status might be in jeopardy from the passage of California's Proposition 8 in November that has put the state's same-sex marriages in legal limbo, but the happy couple was in full celebration mode Saturday night at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Ellen nabbed the award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode for "Ellen & Portia's Wedding Day," a day she looks back on with great joy.

"It's just sharing the happiest day of my life," Ellen told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson backstage. "We didn't register, so this is nice. We get an award!"

Portia on the other hand was a bit more modest about their award-winning wedding.

"All I did was marry her," she said. "I don't know if I really deserve an award for that."

And despite the same-sex marriage setbacks in California following Prop 8, Ellen told Access that life has never been better.

"I'm happier than I've ever been," She said of her marriage to Portia. "And lucky to have found this because, I know how rare it is."

In addition to success in her personal life, Ellen's career continues to flourish. The talk show host just landed an upcoming interview with Lindsay Lohan - something Ellen hopes the young star will benefit from.

"I'm excited. I want to hear what Lindsay has to say and [I] hope she gets back to her career," Ellen told Shaun. "She seems to be reaching out to people lately... I hope she's OK... she's so talented."

Adding, "I'm going to ask her what's going on and let her have a platform to speak."

Yes society is messed up: horrible economy, people losing jobs, unstable households, dysfunctional families-it's never going to change. People need to stop focusing on the GLBT lifestyle so much and worry about the corrupt society we live in that suggest and force us to believe it's UNNATURAL to see two people of the same sex to raise children. Children need to understand diversist

Ellen's a mess, with lots of baggage. She's very insecure, goes from one trend to the next, has no real identity of her own. Note:{ she's always jumping on the newest fad }. If you watch her, you can really see how insecure she really is. I say : Ellen live your life the way you want to live it, but please keep your comments & {so called opinions to yourself } they

They have equal rights already, under the laws of discrimination , same as for minorities or anybody else. There is also a thing called The Domestic Pardoners Act, in Ca. Why do gays need special rights? They don't. There are already laws on the books that covers discrimination of all sorts. This is a power play, by a few that want & think they deserve special rights.

tara, so it's ok 4 you 2 say you "HATE people who judge"?? sounds like the worst kind of judging 2 me! if ppl don't agree with or support gays/gay unions, it's our right 2 say so, whether u like it or not. & it's NOT judging. it's expressing an opinion...just like you did.

The reason straight people don't like gay marriage is because our childern have to see it. It is unnatural and it is gaining more ground with people today because society is so messed up. Single parent homes, unwedded parents and lack of any belief system. Most of you are going to take the chip like it is nothing when the time comes, some of you will get in line for it.

what do straight divorces have 2 do w/same-sex unions?? poor analogy, esp. when there're married gays who're divorcing. look at the losers liz was married 2 & u'll know y she divorced. whatev, not the issue. straights who don't believe in gay unions/relationships r entitled 2 our opinions, like them or not.

Well this is the thing about this article. Celebrity relationships are for the most part unstable, and don't last very long. Using celebritoes and such is an iffy example for any issue.
