Ellen DeGeneres has a few tips for American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.

"If you're going to continue to wear makeup, may I suggest CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation," the CoverGirl spokesmodel joked while chatting to the singer over the phone on her talk show, which airs Friday.

Check out Adam's edgy Idol style.

Still, she says that she worries Lambert's glam rock style might start a new trend with people who can't pull off the look.

"There is one thing that I have a problem with," she says. "You're going to be responsible for, next year, so many men showing up wearing nail polish and eyeliner thinking that that's all it takes. I predict we're going to see so many men wearing makeup next year thinking, 'Well, they like it. People want to see men doing that.'"

All joking aside, DeGeneres, 51, shares her adoration for the singer -- and Idol winner Kris Allen.

"We all love you here," she says. "I have to say, first of all, I think Kris is fantastic, and I know you feel the same."

Adam adds: "I'm a huge fan."

Look back at Idol's Top 13 contestants.

DeGeneres admits she was shocked by the outcome but was impressed at Lambert's second-place spirit.

"I'm very happy for [Allen], but I think everyone thought you were going to have this thing," she says. "The way people were talking and the way you reacted when his name was called, it was like you were his dad. You were so genuinely happy for him they way you kind of grabbed his shoulders and hugged him, and I thought you were so gracious. I just want to say I loved how you handled that."

"Thank you. I was really mentally prepared to have whatever happen, happen," Lambert says, admitting that Allen was probably more surprised by the finale's outcome. "He was shocked -- I had to shake him a little bit."

Adam is still fabulous with or without makeup. He dress up really well. We all know that make-ups and colored nail polish are women's thing but you see ... Adam Lambert is a trendsetter ... but Ellen, it doesnt necessarily mean that if Adam Lambert looks good in eyeliner and black nailpolish ... it will also look good on all men ... It depends on an individual's personality ...

Adam Lambert is a good example of how artist should behave regarding all the criticisms and negative things being thrown at them. He's very down-to-earth, professional, and good-spirited guy ... not to mention being very talented too. Those "runner-ups" who is so bitter with Adam is just jealous and threatened.

Clay would have to climb a ladder to be up to Adam's talent, and/ or looks. Adam you are a true gentleman. I'm with Paula, you are iconic. I will certainly buy your albums. By the way I'm 77 and you are the most talented human I've ever see, and that's a long time.

Why would clay say all that crap after what he went through himself. Good Grief. Why not listen to the guy a few songs before passing judgement. Shame on you clay.......

I was very upset with the results but adams actions made me feel better. Again the guy steps up to the plate and delivers. All the top 5 are very very close. This tour will be awesome. They will all sell records but Adam will be a national star. He won't be tied to AI contract now either. He can act after the tour and do what he wants. And he doesn't have to release that son

I'm a big fan of Clay Aikens but I think if he couldn't say anything nice about Adam he shouldn't have said anything at all. I may not be crazy about Adam's hair and makeup but I did want him to win and I think he has a GREAT voice. He will definitely go places. I love you Clay but you shouldn't say anything. Also, why knock American Idol it definitely go yo
